This is an awesome and eye opening hacking.  Is this also applicable using Zumo series?

@ISM

It will work with ZUMO500 series, but not with ZUMO600 series. ZUMO600 series supports both HFP and A2DP which will occupy SMH10's A2DP connection needed for the dongle.

Dan,

Will firmware v4 allow using a zumo 660 in this setup? My guess is no, because the new firmware is supposed to allow two HFP pairings, not A2DP. Is that correct?

Thanks,

You are correct. SMH10 firmware version 4.0 will support limited two HFP connections, but only one A2DP connection. As you know, ZUMO600 series support both HFP and A2DP. Above Tom Tom RIder in the video only supports HFP.

Thank you. Yes, my goal is to pair my zumo 660 with my SMH10 and then pair my SR10 to the SMH10. Because there is no way to use selective pairing with the 660, I am hoping firmware v4 will allow the SR10 to also use the HFP slot occupied by the zumo.

@Dan

If you want to use media player of ZUMO660, then you will have to directly connect ZUMO660 to SMH10, In this case, you can connect your phone to ZUMO and ZUmo will relay your phone call over to SMH10. And, you can connect SR10 to SMH10's second HFP audio channel.

If you only use ZUMO660 for navigation guide and like to use your phone's media player, then connect the phone directly to SMH10 and connect ZUMO to SR10 then connect SR10 to SMH10's 2nd HFP audio channel.

Of course, both scenarios are only possible with SMH10 firmware version 4.0.

Excellent information - thanks. What I want to do is most like your first example. I want to run my radar detector hardwired to the SR10 and my zumo via BT to the SMH10 for voice directions. I don't listen to music while I ride.

Even just for voice directions, I found the audio quality of the zumo when hardwired to the SR10 to be very poor due to the narrow bandwidth of the mono HFP channel. I had to turn the volume on the zumo to 90% and the jog dial all the way up on the SMH10 to hear very well (with earplugs) and it was quite distorted. Paired directly to the SMH10, the zumo 660 sounds great under the same conditions.

Thanks again for your help,

-dan
