To extend the length of PTT extension cable, you have to have a standard 2.5mm jack cable extension. 2 or 3 pole is OK. For connection one end of the cable should be a male jack type and the other end should be female type.

Does the SMH10 have an external Push-to-Talk button that could be mounted on the bike's handle bars?

I'm getting my two SMH10 units setup up now and it looks like the all we need to do is tap the Jog Dial to begin a conversation (known as Intercom) and then when the conversation is done, tap the Jog Dial again.  Right?

Thanks - Dan

SMH10 does not offer extension of hardware buttons. Intercom can be activate by tapping the Jog Dial or voice detection. You can enable intercom VOX by follow instruction on page 15 of latest SMH10 User Manual or through SMH10 Manager if you have firmware update supported SMH10.

What is a 2 or 3 pole extension?  I thought one black strip was mono and two black strips were stero.  where does the three come from?  Becuase I want an PTT extension camble also.  2.5 mono cables are not made anymore.  Just stero cables.  Should the stero jack work also?  thanks Marvin

2 or 3 pole refers to channels or contacts of the cable. 2 pole is one channel/contact since other is GROUND. 2 pole is two channels/contacts. For PTT extension, either 2 or 3 pole 2.5mm connector cable can be be used.

It only needs to be about a foot longer to allow it to be attached to the handlebars and connected to the SR10 in a tankbag.   I can't see why the 'stock' PTT cable needs to be so short making it necessary to buy a separate extension.

That said, used my SR10/SMH10/PMR combo for the first time at the weekend it it worked a treat.
